Epidemics - the Dynamics of Infectious Diseases

This was a fantastic course, the lectures and resources provided were detailed and very informative. It is quite a technical course and you really need to have an interest in the subject matter - but if you do you will love it!

Archaeology's Dirty Little Secrets

Written 4 years ago
This was possibly the most enjoyable MOOC I have ever done! Sue the lecturer was so energetic and enthusiastic about the subject matter - you couldn't help but enjoy it! I loved the practical hands-on lectures, with many of the assessment tasks being hands-on, like doing 3D photography of an artifact. I really enjoyed how each week Sue interviewed a Brown Uni lecturer on their current digs and sites. Even if the only thing you know about archaeology is what you learned from Indiana Jones you will enjoy this course:) Wish it was possible to give a more than 5 star rating for this one!

Genes and the Human Condition (From Behavior to Biotechnology)

Written 4 years ago
This was a quirky look at the role genetics play in our lives - the lecturers were easy to understand and the assessment tasks highly relevant. Merges well with other more scientific studies of genetics, you only need a reasonable grasp of genetic theory to complete this course (and that is reviewed in the first week anyway). Go on and take it - you will be pleasantly surprised!

Equine Nutrition

Written 4 years ago
A good basic intro into the complex science that is Equine Nutrition. Aimed at novice horse owners wanting to improve their knowledge. I would love to see a follow up session on the role of minerals and vitamins in nutrition and feed balancing:)

Social Epidemiology

Written 4 years ago
A rigorous introduction to the field of 'Social Epi'; course content got a little dry at times but was full of good relevant information. Students with a bit of a background in social medicine or epidemiology will find this course useful to complement their learning. One for the enthusiasts, although the lecturer obviously loves his course content:)

Introduction to Forensic Science

Written 4 years ago
This was a fantastic course, and I enjoyed it so much I am now enrolled in a bachelors degree in accident forensics. The lectures are devised as part of an actual case, you follow through each week with different forensic subject areas such as fingerprints, DNA, blood, tools etc. Any fan of CSI will have a blast:)

Forensic Psychology: Witness Investigation

Loved this course, complements my current studies in accident forensics:) I really enjoyed the practical application of skills such as the Identikit exercise; Futurelearn sure know how to put on an interesting and engaging MOOC:)

Pre-Calculus: Trigonometry

Written 4 years ago
This course is college level - students will need to have a good background in algebra to get the best out of this one. I found the notation for entering equations a bit of a challenge to get my head around, if you are even one digit off it will mark you wrong. The lecture videos are good though, quite engaging even with a bit of So-Cal accent:)

Human Resources

A great basic introduction to the Human Resources filed. Some great information on performance reviewing and employee management. Assessments are multiple choice but are sufficiently challenging to ensure you know the course content.

Financial Literacy

This is a great course on the basics of everyday financial planning. I audited this course as I didn't really need the certificate but I really enjoyed it - I learnt a good deal about goal setting and getting a financial plan in place. Take it!

Introduction to Algebra

Written 3 years ago
Great bridging course from basic maths to algebra:) I liked the videos and loved that you could interact and answer questions within it - the quizzes were designed to ensure you had a proper grasp of the subject matter, one wrong answer and the platform circulates you back around (sometimes a bit like Groundhog Day but at least you are gaining a thorough knowledge of the concept!).
