Explore childcare approaches for vulnerable children

Public sector cuts have made the task of caring for vulnerable children more challenging than ever.

On this course, aspiring or in childcare careers will better understand the characteristics of different childcare approaches and possible interventions.

You’ll explore definitions of risk and vulnerability, good enough parenting, child development, and fostering meaningful relationships and attachments, examining these issues in the real-life context of budget cuts and increasing child poverty

This online childcare course will be suitable if you:

  • Have no direct experience of the childcare field, but want to develop your career towards it
  • Have recently began a childcare career and have little experience
  • Have some experience and are interested in developing your qualifications further
  • Find it difficult to access childcare courses for training and development

  • The information was brief. A good course for someone that is new to the topic. Most of the information was based in the UK and how their system ran.

I work in a secondary school and help children with a range of issues. Specifically my job to is check attendance. I look out for signs that a child might be an 'unofficial' carer for a parent/sibling; has anxiety; is unwell; why they overslept etc, that might have caused them to be late to school/absent.
The course reinforced some of the issues with students and the impact this has on their lives. I personally think it is an excellent study for anyone in education or counsellors or youth workers.
The course is not in anyway political or pushing its own agenda. It gives facts and lets the learner make their own decisions and thoughts.
