This is the first course of the North Indian Classical Music program, which aims to introduce this music tradition to any music motivated learner by combining theoretical and practical teaching approaches. All the concepts are presented through video lectures given by the instructor, which include a variety of audiovisual supports and practical demonstrations by guest musicians. The learners are then able to get feed back on what they have learned by answering quizzes and by submitting practical performance assignments that are evaluated by assistant teachers with the support of the Music Critic technology.
This first course presents the fundamental elements of North Indian Classical Music. Their understanding prepares the student to explore them further in the subsequent two courses of the program.
