Overview

How it was never to learn the basics of programming playful. To participate in the course, you do not need special knowledge, only an internet connection and a computer. No special software needs to be installed on the computer. Necessary are only a current browser and an e-mail address with which you can log on openhpi.

At the beginning of the free four-week course focuses on simple programming exercises. You learn to control a virtual turtle by your programming. In the following weeks you will be familiarized that will give you a basic understanding of the structure of programming with loops, and functions. In the openhpi course you'll see tutorials and check in the quiz, if you understood everything. Directly in the browser, you can then apply the learned knowledge and program drauflos.

If you're stuck once, you can in the forum or the learning groups find support from other students. Upon successful completion you will receive after the course a openhpi certificate.

Syllabus

  • Week 1: Programming and operating instructions. In the first week you will learn how a computer works and how he gets his instructions. Be presented with the programming of the keyboard, formulas, variables, and the turtle (turtle graphics)
  • Week 2: This week you will learn how the computer can handle similar data one by one and itself makes decisions. Presents the conditional statement, loop and lists.
  • Week 3: A major task consists of many small. This week you will learn how programs organized and the same code can be used multiple times. Are presented functions, parameters, and dictionaries.
  • Week 4: Ask the user. In this last week of the course you will learn how the computer can react to user input. Are presented input from keyboard and mouse input, and error handling.
