Learning How to Learn: Powerful mental tools to help you master tough subjects

Written a year ago
I would wholeheartedly recommend this course. It's done in a light-hearted way, but very thoroughly and goes through all sorts of memory/brain-related concepts and strategies one can use in real-time and studying: love the Pomodoro technique, and diffuse/focused mode is regularly part of my learning practice.

Great course - if you struggle with learning techniques, there are no better courses out there!

Classical Sociological Theory

Great course and the gentleman Professor from the University of Amsterdam made it very accessible. Love that the course has made the entire transcript of the lectures available as a single PDF book! Comte, Marx, Durkheim, Mills... great stuff and delivered in high quality!

The final exam I found the most difficult as it contains over 80 questions, but overall not that difficult, though you do need a quiet space (so no babies around!) to understand the difficult sociological concepts!

Lesson Planning with the ELL in Mind

Written a year ago
I am not a novice at this topic, being an EAL teacher and Coordinator by profession, but still learned some - e.g. about content-obligatory and content-complementary distinction.

Good course and great examples for planning. However, my greatest criticism is not in the content, but the nature of the instructors: on a course like this, please have more racial diversity amongst the staff. I was looking for a teacher who'd be Arabic or someone black amongst the lecturer, and left with a feeling it was essentially westerners including EAL learners... Shame.
