Mindshift: Break Through Obstacles to Learning and Discover Your Hidden Potential

Written 4 months ago
Not surprised that most of the reviews here compared this MOOC with Dr. Oakley's first one: Learning How To Learn.

This one was way too easy and at the end of it, I felt cheated - in a way. I spent a good amount of time expecting a step change forward from the first MOOC. I breezed through the online quizzes and the one assignment before I received an email congratulating me on finishing the programme and asking me to buy the certificate. I did pay for a certificate after my first MOOC, but this one I refused to because I couldn't justify it to myself even though I scored 100% in all the online quizzes. That feeling of elation on have 'achieved' a Mindshift was missing.

Would I recommend it? To those who completed the first MOOC, this would be a logical bringing together of all the concepts one started with on that course. There little by way of new value meriting of four weeks' work (and the money for the certificate). Do it to review the learnings from the first MOOC.

That's it!

Learning How to Learn: Powerful mental tools to help you master tough subjects

This is certainly a 5* course for me personally. It introduced me so many new concepts and eased my own anxieties about continuing to be a life long learner. LHTL was also the first MOOC that I completed successfully. Both the instructors are the best in their league and make the course easy to follow and relate to.

Particularly helpful if one is in a mid-career role or is considering the next best thing to do.
