Programming for Everybody (Getting Started with Python)

Written 3 months ago
This is a great course. The teacher, Dr. Charles Severence, makes the content easy and enjoyable.

If you have already some coding experience, you will get a smooth introduction into python's basic concepts with an easy to follow step by step approach; if you are starting coding right now, you are really lucky because you have the opportunity to start with this course.

I was already familiar with coding and with many of the presented concepts, but I wish I had started my coding experience years ago with this training instead of the one I had. It would have been easyer and... much more fun!

Absolutely recommended for anybody starting with python and for anybody starting programming.

I will proceed with the next courses in the specialization.

Python Data Structures

Written 3 months ago
This is the second course in the Python for Everybody specialization. The course introduces the data structures in python giving clear explanations and making a great job at selecting the most useful ones so that it is easy to later build knowledge on top of them.

One thing I like to highlight, the examples and the excercises are very meaningful and well structured along the course, so that, in the end, complex results are achieved gradually.

I believe that, for mastering the content, some part of the material might need to be reinforced with additional excercise; references are given during the classes for useful resources.

One possible improvement to the course itself could adding some excercise or assignment.

Same as with the first course, I really enjoyed the classes: the content was explained very clearly to the point of making it look easy. I already had some programmming experience, so, some part of it was on the easy side for me, nevertheless I found it interesting all along. Dr. Severance - Dr. Chuck added to this some great sense of humour that made it also fun to learn.

I will proceed with the next course in the specialization and I am looking forward for learning more python.

Using Databases with Python

Written 2 months ago
Another great course from Dr. Charles Severance, very well structured for introducing basic database concepts and how to interact with databases using python. The course does a really great job at introducing SQL basics using SQLite: it made it easy to understand the different concepts and, as a consequence, building on top of them becomes easy... but not trivial. The grading exercises are focused on understanding and modifing the code rather than creating it from scratch; I think that this was a good decision when considering the need to familiarize with some programming pattern and, of course, considering the coming-next capston project. Highly recommended for introducing the use of databases with python!
