Beginning Game Programming with C#

Written 2 years ago
This course was great! The quality of the resources was pretty good. The programming assignments were hands-on and fun. I loved being able to figure out how to solve a problem through critical thinking and googling. However, I recommend that you take a basic intro to programming course before attempting this. And if you can look stuff on the internet on your own, then you definitely don't need to buy the textbook.

Introduction to Mathematical Thinking

Written 2 years ago
This was an interesting course. It assumes no understanding of advanced mathematics. It teaches you how to think which is an important skill for possibly every job out there. The time you spend every week depends on your own goals. Sure, you can just do the quizzes and still get a certificate of accomplishment; but to get the most out of it you'll need to utilise study groups and the course discussion forums.

Creative Programming for Digital Media & Mobile Apps

Written 2 years ago
This course would be very interesting for people with some basic background in art, music and programming. You'll actually get to work on some of your own app ideas. The course is pretty inclusive with students with different backgrounds enrolling. However, the instructions were often unclear, and if you don't have enough experience to solve technical problems on your own then you will find the course really frustrating.

Creative, Serious and Playful Science of Android Apps

Written 2 years ago
This course is targeted at beginners. It assumes no previous programming knowledge. The assignments are very hands-on. But since it's targeted at beginners, you won't be a pro app developer at the end of the course. Unless you get really interested in the subject matter and decide to spend hours outside of the course working on your own. (That's where my extra hours come from). Perfect for people interested in mobile app development but who wouldn't necessarily call themselves "programmers".

How to Use Git and GitHub

Written 2 years ago
This course would be very helpful for beginners who are frustrated trying to understand how to use Git. The explanations are very clear and the material is interactive. However more advanced programmers will be just fine following shorter web tutorials on the topic and searching up problems on Google as they arise. If the course's pace feels too slow for you, skim through the relevant bits (it's a self-paced course so you can always come back later) or drop the course altogether in favour of other less comprehensive sources.

HTML5 Canvas

Written 2 years ago
The course is very hands-on. Students get to work on a useful and interesting project: A Meme Generator. The instructors are relaxed and fun. However, the subject of the course might not prove useful to every web developer. And you can learn much of what is presented in the course through shorter web tutorials.

Learning How to Learn: Powerful mental tools to help you master tough subjects

Written 2 years ago
This course was very informative. It provides practical tips that you can apply in your own studies to learn more effectively. It has breadth and depth. And I loved the interviews. Because this is a self-paced course, my advice is to take from this course what you believe is most useful and ignore the rest. And then you can always come back to it for more tips.
