Learning How to Learn: Powerful mental tools to help you master tough subjects

Written 2 years ago
This is the best course that I have completed on coursera. Instructor barbara is full of life and energetic. I am a computer science student and have completed several other courses related to my subject on different platforms (edx, udacity etc) and this is the only non technical course that I have taken and it was worth of it.

Intro to Descriptive Statistics

Written 2 years ago
Pros :

# Starts from the very beginning of statistics

#Introduces most fundamental concepts of descriptive statistics

#This course is a part of Nanodegree (Just like specialization in coursera) and pushes you on the track of next course which is inferential statistics

Cons:

#Boring course with unnecessary videos and countings. May be instructor tried to make the course too easy but it made the course unnecessarily lengthy.

Introduction to R for Data Science

Written 2 years ago
This course can be a very good place to start learning R programming. Only because of one ambiguous assignment I am not giving it 5 stars but I highly recommend this course to anyone who wants to start R programming.

Bayesian Statistics

Written a year ago
This is the last course of specialization "Statistics with R". The first three courses were excellent but surprisingly this last course is a complete disappointment. I dropped the course after failing the first quiz multiple times even i carefully followed the lecture videos. Quiz questions were too complex (at least for me) based on the lecture videos. Previous three course contained a reading section that was very helpful but this course does not have that reading section part. Course instructor mine cetinkaya rundel was good at delivering lectures as always but as i could not relate quiz questions with video lectures.

Machine Learning

Machine Learning is a complicated topic that involve calculus, linear algebra, statistics but this course give you an excellent introduction avoiding mathematical details which is understandable. Best introductory course for Machine Learning. PERIOD.

The Hardware/Software Interface

Written 8 months ago
Coursera does not offer this course anymore. This was a tough course. Usually coursera courses have pass mark around 80% but this course demanded only 65% which is indicator of how difficult course it was. But if you have time, patience and interest to know how high level computer programs are broken down into low level machine readable codes you might want to try it. Memory management was also covered in the course.

Build a Modern Computer from First Principles: From Nand to Tetris (Project-Centered Course)

Written 6 months ago
Even with 1+ year professional experience in software industry it was not clear to me how a program written in high level language gets executed in machine level and "Nand to Tetris" is exactly the course that I was looking for. Building a computer from scratch sounds scary as computer is a complex machine consisting of memory unit, CPU, hardware devices and more than that you have to understand computer architecture to make them work together. True beauty of this course is it has perfectly organized all these complex topics in such a way that it becomes very easy for the learner to proceed step by step.

Pros:

1. Perfectly organized

2. Course assignments are fun and engaging

3. Great opportunity to build a computer from scratch

4. Well balanced combination of knowledge and implementation

Cons: 1. Hardware simulator provided with the course materials is not that user friendly.

Difficulty: Medium or easy if you have programming experience. It is completely fine if you do not have programming experience but you have to put a little extra effort.

Introduction to Operating Systems

Written 5 months ago
Unlike traditional moocs this is a semester long course that covers a whole lot of topics of operating system from the scratch. Very time consuming course but if you have time and patience you will get to learn a lot. It is a surprise that there are not many online course on operating system available on popular mooc platforms and this one of the very few of them.

pros:

#Starts from scratch.

#Covers a huge range of topic

#Programming assignments are available

#Organized

cons:

#Huge syllabus, takes a very long time.

#not sufficient programming assignments.

Farsan Rashid completed this course and found the course difficulty to be medium.
