In Jan 2014, Coursera announced Specializations, which consist of a group of related courses designed to help students deepen expertise in a subject. Today, Coursera added 18 more specializations taking the total to 27. The total number of Coursera courses has jumped to 830!

According to Coursera, 1.5 million Coursera students have signed up for courses that are part of specialization. To earn a Specialization students need to achieve a verified certificate in every course that is part of a specialization. The final step is a capstone project – a project that demonstrates the knowledge acquired during the specialization.  Cost of specialization lies in the range of $150 – $500.
