Overview

##

This course will help you identify the positions of organs within the abdomen and will introduce you to common anatomical terminology.

You will look at the anterior (front) abdominal wall, exploring how the ‘abs’ are considered in relation to health and beauty. You’ll then move on to look at the composition of the gastrointestinal tract. Focussing on common problems that can occur in this tract, you’ll hear from an abdominal surgeon about the work he does to treat and cure such problems.

This course is part of the Going to University collection which has been specifically designed for students at schools and colleges. They provide a taster of undergraduate study at the University of Leeds and help students to decide which subject to study at university.

Completion of the courses will also enhance students’ university applications.

The courses can also be used as a teachers’ classroom enrichment resource.

Courses in this collection are also great for people that want an introduction in the specific subjects discussed in each course.

Expected much more, learned nothing. A very, very basic and superficial course that is appropriate only for someone who knows absolutely nothing about anatomy.

Interesting because the videos explain very well (around 40 min of videos in this course), but this course is too basic and too short. Only the basic digestive and organs functions. Some basic things about the digestive surgery, but the digestion process is not explained. There's no interaction with the educators that don't answer the forum questions or correct the students mistake. There's a few search activity and quiz, but it's short, but the course is mainly the videos. It took me less than an hour to complete everything with the searches included. Good for beginners or people who are not able to know where is their stomach or their spleen, at least, after completing this course, they will be able to place all the organs in the correct order.

Pages difficult to navigate. No clear buttons for submit, previous, next.

Audio video dull, video with transcript would have been engaging and much better.

No way of doing the end quiz to check for understanding unless payment for course was made.

Other MOOCs I have done had a quiz for each section, computer marked instantly THEN if the course is of value and a certificate is wanted , payment can be made.

Select an audited free course, a computer generated progress chart is a great feature.

UTAS have free courses on understanding and preventing dementia AND a free certificate to download and print. An enhanced certificate for $50 is worth having with details of everything covered, if the knowledge is applicable to further studies.

Course is good and informative. But after completing all the steps of the course, they say that I have completed 83% steps and have got 100% marks. Even after paying the fees for upgrading, I get no information about the certificate. Is it the case with all the courses given by future learn?
