Overview

  • Module 1: Understand the process that will be used as the learning path guides you through the anti-racism learning journey. This is the first module in a learning path and is intended to be taken in order in that path.

    In this module, you will:

    • Define the learning process engaged in throughout the learning path
    • Recognize the team of educators and experts who curated and crafted the learning path
    • Identify resources and organizations that help continue learning and action beyond the modules in the learning path
  • Module 2: This module begins the anti-racism journey by building a strong foundation of knowledge of terminology. This is the second module in a learning path and is intended to be taken in order in that path.

    In this module, you will:

    • Define key terms and concepts related to race, racism, and anti-racism
    • Explain the construct of race and its historical foundation
    • Distinguish between the different levels of racism
  • Module 3: This module dives into personal identities, specifically discussing race, and how those identities have shaped our personal belief systems. This is the third module in a learning path and is intended to be taken in order in that path.

    In this module, you will:

    • Define related terminology and concepts related to identity
    • Embrace your personal racial identity
    • Explain the impact of racial identity
    • Describe how to express thoughts and feedback through self and social awareness
  • Module 4: Develop an understanding of bias and an awareness of how bias affects what we think and do in a module intended to be taken as part of a learning path.

    In this module, you will:

    • Develop and apply a working definition of bias

    • Identify the meaning and context of different types of bias

    • Develop a definitive list of strategies for understanding and unlearning

    • Describe sustainable strategies for increased awareness of one’s thoughts and actions

    • Develop sustainable strategies for personalized accountability and growth

  • Module 5: Explore how power, privilege, and fragility negatively affect the social, emotional, and academic flourishing of BIPOC students.

    In this module, you will:

    • Develop a deeper understanding of the related terminology and concepts
    • Describe power, privilege, and fragility from a dominant ideological frame
    • Explain marginalization, social isolation, and exclusion through the lens of power and privilege
    • Explain how grit and perseverance resist fragility
    • Distinguish individual accountability and apology
  • Module 6: Educators walk through lessons and theory on how to work with students as they become allies and anti-racists.

    In this module, you'll:

    • Define terminology from a students’ perspective
    • Support students with exploring their racial identity
    • Facilitate reflective conversations with students to better understand their first thoughts/implicit biases around race
    • Examine texts and curriculum resources for representation across racial identity groups
