Overview

Have you seen a child being too aggressive – hitting and hurting other children, destroying things etc..? Have you seen a boy/girl being too timid, withdrawn, aloof, isolated? Have you seen an adolescent high school student being reckless, indulge in risk behaviours – smoking, drug and alcohol abuse? All of us have seen and have wondered why? Why the children are like this? How to set right these children? What should be done to avoid these problem behaviours? How to identify and address these behaviours and intervene to mainstream them? The students need not be exceptional to encounter problems in school. They face a diverse array of problems and challenges as they progress through school years which manifests itself through these behaviors. We know that the children are an asset for a country since they are the future nation builders and their health and wellbeing always remains as a primary concern. Children of elementary school, middle school and high school spend the active part of their day at school and hence, school plays a very important role in moulding the personality which endures through thoughts, feelings and behaviours of the students.

The entire course module is very effectively organized and presented. We came to know a lot of hidden information. Now we can be more cautious while imparting teaching. We can handle the students more efficiently and effectively. The assessment questions are of high quality and to answer them one has to go through the topics very seriously. How ever it would be an added advantage if we are provided with some sample questions for the final examination.

I have been working as a teacher since 2017 and want to learn and achieve more in this field. As a teacher I want to learn in detail about children's psychology and how to deal and counsel them. And this course helped me a lot. Now I can connect with my students more easily and understand their problems deeply. Step by step I try to resolve their issues and help them to come out of the problematic situations and problems. Now I am much more active in my field and work with more enthusiasm and positivity. I am more confident and students also show their trust on me. I am really glad that I enrolled myself in this course and have learnt so many new concepts. Thanks to Swayam.

School Counselling is a new concept that is being introduced in our educational systems now a days.Earlier I used to think that it is the responsibility of only subject teachers to guide and help students but this course provided me with the information and knowledge that students need professional help and consultation as well so that they can deal with their personal, physical, mental as well as other problems and excel in their academic as well as in professional life ahead.
