Have you seen a child being too aggressive – hitting and hurting other children, destroying things etc..? Have you seen a boy/girl being too timid, withdrawn, aloof, isolated? Have you seen an adolescent high school student being reckless, indulge in risk behaviours – smoking, drug and alcohol abuse? All of us have seen and have wondered why? Why the children are like this? How to set right these children? What should be done to avoid these problem behaviours? How to identify and address these behaviours and intervene to mainstream them? The students need not be exceptional to encounter problems in school. They face a diverse array of problems and challenges as they progress through school years which manifests itself through these behaviors. We know that the children are an asset for a country since they are the future nation builders and their health and wellbeing always remains as a primary concern. Children of elementary school, middle school and high school spend the active part of their day at school and hence, school plays a very important role in moulding the personality which endures through thoughts, feelings and behaviours of the students.

The primary motive behind counseling at school level is to address the emotional , social and behavioral needs a seamless and friendly environment to help each one them with different approaches . The course is very comprehensive. It includes all the important aspects of school counseling, all the problems that the counselors can face while dealing with the children. The course caters to the different approaches of counseling and different techniques and therapies that can be used for effective counseling sessions. It consists all the relevant history of counseling , the background and theories that are associated with counseling. The course also covers the area of different difficulties that children might go through as they grow up, and enter adolescence, the children who have a difficult environment at home . It emphasises the role of a school counselor and the steps that can be taken by the counselor. The modules cover each and everything very precisely. They are crisp and well written. The videos help in understanding and clearing any doubts that we might have while reading the e-text. The graded assignment every week not only keeps us regular but also helps in comprehending the matter that we have learnt. However there can be more subjective assignments in the course , and while submitting the subjective assignment, there should be an option to submit again because sometimes due to technical glitch, it gets submitted on its own. Overall, the course is very well comprehensive and provides a deep insight into school counseling.

Now a days counseling is needed in not schools but in every sectors. But it is most important in schools. Students are future of our country. So teachers need to posses basic counselling skills to develop overall personalities of students, such as academic, career & personal, emotional, intellectual growth for most adolescents. Thats why now teachers are expected to work closely with parents, students, & other professionals such as psychologist & social workers. Because students face lots of problems & challenges through school years. Students are future nation builders, so their health & wellbeing is very important.
In the course of school counselling Dr. Ramya Bhasker & other teachers explain the concepts very well. All chapters are vary important & useful for school councelling. It is needed to learn for students, teachers, school counsellors. I have learn lot of things in this course. Piaget's cognitive development theory, Ivey's developmental therapy, Erickson's psycho social theory, Blocher's developmental counselling & Havighurst's concept of developmental task, in these I learn to these theories. For me how parents involvement, their consultation, their support is most important in childrens life is important to me, because it is related to my research topic. Thats why I choose this course. In this school counselling course I learn about study habits also because it is also related about my research topic. So my research topic is related to parents role & students study habits, & thats why I choose this course. But I learn not only about my topic but beyond this I get knowledge about so many things which is very important many for me. The mental health of every child is unique and each one of them has their own world of imagination. While most of us have gone through different mental states during our formative years, we still fail to recognize the same when it comes to our children. Moreover, people have the misconception of seeing counselling as some type of psychotherapy, and hence they try to avoid the topic. But there’s a strong need of counselling in schools, since the formative years of a child is really important in shaping up his future. Today’s world is fast-moving, and our children are living in an era where human emotions are shared over the touch of a mobile phone. We might be ignoring, but our children are probably communicating through a medium where virtual reality wins over actual human emotion. This course really helped me to understand the need of counselling at school.

I have completed this course in the month of April 2022. This is very useful introduction to the School Counselling field. It has benefited me to understand the role and responsibilities of a School counselor and also got an idea regarding different difficulties faced by students in their school age. They need continuous support from teachers and parents to achieve their life goals along with guidance from School Counselor and School Management.

After completing this course I myself got motivated to learn more regarding these courses conducted either in India or outside India and sure I would like to pursue further knowledge in this field and help needy students at all levels.

I am grateful to the course mentor for help me to learn a lot with proper guide and relevant e-text (with vivid explanation Videos). I am also amazed to study the course 'School Counselling' as a teacher to acquire a various theories, steps or techniques that surely help me to support my fellow students with great care and affections for inspiring them to do good in their future life. And even I try my best to take a number of positive steps for the total development those who are misdirect from study due to health or mental disorder/confusion. In the present situation, maximum guardians are faced a great trouble for their children who are misled from study and normal behaviours. I personally admit that without this course my life is incomplete for the knowledge of counselling students. I consider/think that all existing teachers, to be teachers and even the guardians must have knowledge of counselling students/ children. Thank you much.

The entire course module is very effectively organized and presented. We came to know a lot of hidden information. Now we can be more cautious while imparting teaching. We can handle the students more efficiently and effectively. The assessment questions are of high quality and to answer them one has to go through the topics very seriously. The course School Counseling was very helpful in learning the counseling techniques and the methods and theories of counseling.
