Power Electronics and Distributed Generation

NPTEL and Indian Institute of Science Bangalore via YouTube

Overview

Instructor: Prof. Vinod John, Department of Electrical Engineering, IISc Bangalore.

Power Electronics (PE) covers a wide range of areas. Some of the larger PE segments are DC to DC converters, inverters, UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply), high voltage DC systems, flexible AC transmission systems, distributed generation, and so on. Among these segments, an emerging area is distributed generation, where the power converter or any converter in general is used as an interface between your energy source and the grid. This course will focus on the distributed generation and the issues of connecting the distributed generation unit with the electrical grid.
