This course aims to teach participants how to handle and analyze qualitative data effectively. The learning outcomes include understanding qualitative research ethics, discourse analysis, community studies, qualitative inquiry, event history analysis, grounded theory, synthesizing qualitative research findings, and the role of self and emotions in qualitative data analysis. The course covers a variety of tools and skills such as problem-centered interviewing, giving voice to marginalized groups, using the diary method, and bridging the qualitative/quantitative divide. The teaching method includes lectures by various experts in the field, discussions, and real-world examples.
